The confident return of Marek Ztracený to the hall

If last year, just before the onset of the pandemic, it was a bit of a surprise, this year, with the return of concerts in large halls, it is no longer such a sensation. It is actually just a confirmation of what has already been done. Marek Ztracený is interested in the audience.

He moved the Restart 2021 tour from winter to late summer, while on a smaller, contact and purely friendly Tour de summer during the holidays, he just inadvertently checked to see if his songs and charisma were still going on. He also invited paramedics, police officers and firefighters to fight the covid-19 in the front line for the concerts of the restart series. On Wednesday, there were thousands of them in the O2 arena among fifteen thousand people. And the singer thanked them for their work.

The difference between last year’s concerts in the largest Czech hall and this year’s ones was that Marek Ztracený gained more self-confidence. And it is not appropriate to perceive it negatively. From the moment he entered the stage, it was clear that a musician had arrived and a singer who believed in his strengths, perhaps a little overlooked the weak ones, which are mainly lyrics, and enjoyed every moment he spent in front of the audience on the big stage.

Of course, he served all the songs the newcomers wanted to hear. It is remarkable that he has enough of them to knit a full-fledged concert program. The audience sang with him, and when necessary, they also sang a vocally demanding part, which Ewa Farna performs in the song In a Hundred Years. The song, in the original version of which he also has his part, was sung by Ztracený accompanied by his band and, of course, people in the hall.

Marta Jandová came with him to sing two songs and during her stay on the stage she proved that her voice serves her well. Hitůvka Coffee and sex was very explosive in the live version, Jandová certainly ran hundreds of meters on stage.

With the girl’s string quartet, Ztracený also cut the composition The Right One, which he wrote for Karel Gott a few years ago. By the way, later through the song Nad Sázavou he also remembered František Nedvěd, another deceased guest of his past concerts. He took on the role of forerunner of Marek Ztracený’s performance at the O2 arena in 2020, while Gott was his guest at the Karlín Forum in Prague in 2017.

The wave of the body performed by the entertainer Richard Genzer in two songs only confirmed that in this country it is somehow true that whoever approaches the dance on the stage with movement, at least arouses a kind smile on the faces of the audience.

At the beginning of the evening, Marek Ztracený said that the concerts from the Restart 2021 series primarily want to have fun, not to compete for whether they will be bigger in his career than the previous ones. For the most part, this was true, and for example, the sound could certainly be improved a lot.

In sum, Wednesday’s concert had enough energy to dance, sing, cheer and probably convince the audience to come to our largest hall for Marek Ztracený next time.
