“In the autumn season in a concert series Personally we will continue to offer opportunities to find a closer connection with various music genres and their performers and creators in small concert forms. For the first time as part of the concert series, we will focus on the music of one specific author. At the opening concert of the season, we will offer you to get to know the theatrical music of Artur Maskats, which will be performed for the audience by an ensemble of singing actors under the special direction of Dmitriy Petrenko. We will feel the world’s vast musical space in an evening of piano music by multifaceted California-inspired American greats together with pianist Juri Žvikova,” the artistic director of the Liepāja Concert Hall, Baiba Bartkeviča, marks the new season, “in turn, we will get to know the traditions of Armenian music in the program of the duduk virtuoso Arsen Petrosyan and the quartet named after him, which was moved from the spring season. We will end the year with the beloved Viennese classics and inspiring Baltic creations, which have been joined by soprano Gunta Gelgote with like-minded people in a joint program.”
In the opening concert of the season on Sunday, September 25, at At 15.00, the audience will be delighted by the theater music of one of the brightest modern Latvian composers, Arturas Maskats, who can be unequivocally considered the focal point of the composer’s creative life. In the new concert program, the composer has chosen to perform his works together with his favorite actors of Mikhail Chekhov’s Riga Russian Theater Maksim Busela and Jūlija Berngardt and the voice of the Liepāja Theater Everita Pyat-Gertner, all of which have been combined into one artistic experience by the chief director of the Liepaja Theater Dmitrijs Petrenko. The concert will feature works from various theater performances, including Muscat’s compositions for the theater with love-filled poetry by Rainas and Aspazija from the show Blessing of love and new theater work.
In the continuation of the concert series – Sunday, October 16, at At 15.00, in cooperation with the Autumn Chamber Music Festival, one of the best American music experts in Latvia, pianist Juris Žvikovs, will invite you to get to know the works of American composers of the 20th century. In the concert program Made in California the pianist will play music inspired by California in his interpretation. This corner of the earth has opened the door to a new world in the genre of piano music with such excellent composers – revolutionaries of music genres as John Cage, John Adams, Lou Harrison, etc.
A completely different sound world on Sunday, November 20 at At 15.00 the audience will get to know the talented instrumentalist Arsen Petrosyan with a guest from Armenia (Arsen Petrosyan), who is one of the most important promoters of Armenian duduk in the world of his generation. Arsens will visit Liepāja together with the quartet named after him to perform Armenian traditional and spiritual music, as well as pieces created by the most important Armenian composers. This concert was moved to the fall season from the spring season of the concert series, so previously purchased tickets are valid for attending this concert.
A special event is expected at the end of the series – Sunday, December 11, at 15.00, when the outstanding chamber musician Gunta Gelgote, the owner of a delicate soprano voice, together with her colleagues – flautist Giedrjus Gelgote (Giedrius Gelgotas), cellist Eric Kirschfeld and pianist Herta Hansen – will offer the listeners a unique program combining Viennese classics and Baltic creativity. The musicians in different formations will perform the instrumental music of Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven and rarely heard songs for voice with the piano, which will be mixed with the music of Latvian composer Santas Buš and Lithuanian composer Andrjus Šuris.
