The concert for the communities affected by the tornado brought over 11 million to DMS alone

After an introductory speech by the moderating couple Světlana Witowská and Daniel Stach, the concert began with a montage of shots from villages damaged by a hail and tornado storm on Thursday. The group Čechomor was the first to play. Groups of people stood in front of the podium in Kampa. The television also broadcast the concert on the ČT1 program with information on how people can send monetary donations. At the same time, the inhabitants of one of the villages affected by the storm, the village of Hrušky, watched the transmission outside and under a cloudy sky.

After only 15 minutes, the viewers sent one million crowns via donor SMS and about four million after half an hour. In the end, donations via DMS grew to more than 11 million crowns during the entire duration of the concert, which lasted about an hour and a half.

Singer Markéta Irglová performed with the Oscar-winning song Falling Slowly. Opera singer Adam Plachetka, accompanied by Cimbalom Music by Antonín Stehlík, sang the song Even So It Doesn’t Burn from the musical Ballad for a Bandit. The bands Mňága and Žďorp and Buty had to borrow musicians from each other during the performance for the absent members of the groups. The bass player from the band Buty surprised the songs Mňágy and Žďorp, and the frontman Mňágy a Žďorp Petr Fiala sang instead of Radek Pastrňák with the song Buty again.

To help the South Moravian municipalities, which were destroyed by a tornado on Thursday, people in the collections have donated over 900 million crowns to the Wednesday. For example, the Diocesan Charity Brno raised about 202 million, the Via Foundation through the darujme.cz portal over 192 million, billionaire Karel Komárek donated 150 million through his foundation, and the People in Need organization raised 120 million.
