the composite portrait of the constituencies of Lorraine

The first round of legislative elections will take place on June 12. On this occasion, we reviewed the socio-demographic data of the 21 Lorraine districts.

The 9th district of Moselle, more populated

On January 1, 2019, Lorraine had 2.33 million inhabitants. To date, the 9th constituency of Moselle including the town of Thionville remains the most populated with 6% of citizens from Lorraine. At the opposite extreme, we find the 3rd district of the Vosges (Gérardmer) which with 3.5% of the population is the least populated.

The unemployment rate is very disparate across the territory, varying from 4.7% (5th district of Meurthe-et-Moselle) to 8.1% (6th district of Moselle).

Great disparities in access to a doctor or a school

In the 2nd district of Meuse (Verdun and north of the Meuse), less than 7 out of 10 inhabitants have access to a school in their municipality of residence compared to 100% of the inhabitants of the very urban 2nd district of Meurthe-et-Moselle (Vandoeuvre -lès-Nancy).

In terms of access to a doctor, the 4th district of Moselle (Sarrebourg) is the least well off. Only 41.5% of the inhabitants have access to a doctor in their municipality against 100% of the citizens of the 2nd district of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
