SD Compostela continues to advance in the preparation of the squad for its return to Second Division B. In the first instance, the sports management works on the renovation of the pieces that have been fundamental to achieve promotion, before completing the group with signings for the new challenge.
For ten days he has lived in a cloud, with the rise in Balaídos, and with the renewal of several of the heavyweights of the squad and his coaching staff. Manuel Castiñeiras has opted to repeat a formula that has worked, a successful model with a recognizable and recognized football philosophy, which has allowed Compos to be champion in Third and pulverize all kinds of records.
And the fundamental step was the renewal of the coaching staff. ANDago Iglesias will continue to lead the team next season, accompanied by Rodri Veiga and Álex Otero. The tireless work during the years in Tercera, with two painful hits included, made the group grow that never moved away from a fundamental idea: the control of the games through the ball, and the management of different alternatives depending on how the games were developed.
The first renewal that became official was that of Brais Abelenda, the king of the Compos goal. With his 14 targets in the regular phase, he was a basic piece in the Composer’s gear, versatile, first as a center forward and later as a winger. Next season he will continue to call the goal at Vero Boquete de San Lázaro.
At renewal per day, the news did not stop during the weekend. First was Alvaro Houses, the captain and axis of the rear, and later Samu Rodriguez, the owner and lord of the center of the field. His deployment in the second half of the final against Ourense was essential for the awakening of Compos.
To close all the lines, the Compos made the continuity of Guillen Duck. The Uruguayan goalkeeper will continue to put the lock on the Santiago goal, after a season in which he broke the club’s historical record for unbeaten record (more than 700 minutes without conceding a goal), the only player who played all the games in full.
Two other of the players who arrived last summer, such as Roberto Baleato and Gabri Palmás, will continue next season. The Val do Dubra midfielder landed in Santiago with the aim of contributing his experience and physical ability, and deployed his entire repertoire on the pitch, both in defense and in the organization of the game, whenever Yago required his services. His was the clearance with which the match against Ourense ended in minute 100.
For his part, the winger from Moaña, who started the season electric and ended with a goal against Barco in the semifinals, will debut in Segunda B with the SD Compostela shirt.
Compos maintains its backbone for the return to the bronze category of Spanish football. The people of Santiago want to continue with the formula for success and with a philosophy that has brought them back to the Second B.
