RC Lens-Montpellier HSC: The two teams face off tonight. The RCL, which starts as favorite, will have the opportunity to get closer to Europe.
RC Lens-Montpellier HSC: A very different dynamic for the two clubs
After a complicated period, the RC Lens come back well in the last few weeks. In addition to the capital victory in the North derby which allowed Franck Haise’s men to overtake LOSC, the Sang et Or won against OGC Nice (3-0) the previous week. Two wins in a row against contenders for Europe which could well launch a new series of victory for the Lensois who will have to make an excellent end to the season to try to qualify for the European Cup.
For his part, the Montpellier HSC is on another dynamic. With only 2 wins in the last 10 matches (2V, 2N, 6D), the Montpellier residents have surely let their last European hopes slip away. Pointing to a sad 11th place with 11 points behind RC Strasbourg, 5th in Ligue 1, the MHSC seems out of competition for the qualifying places. A defeat tonight against the RC Lens could end up condemning Olivier Dall’Oglio to a place in the soft underbelly at the end of the season.
A big surprise in the composition of the MHSC
Le RC Lens will have to do without several of its executives this evening at the Stade Bollaert to face Montpellier. Indeed, three players from Racing Club de Lens are unavailable for this match. Facundo Medina and Gaël Kakuta, both with knee injuries, will miss the game, while Massadio Haïdara is serving his second match suspension. Good news though, after serving one game suspension, Cheick Doucoure should return to the Lensois midfielder for this meeting.
On the side of Montpellier HSC, all eyes will be on the attack. A priori, Olivier Dall’Oglio is preparing to try a blow in the offensive sector by integrating Remy Cabella as a holder for the first time since arriving at the MHSC. A strong choice which aims to bring a little change in the workforce and fresh blood. Mihailo Ristic, announced leaving this summer, will be suspended for the fourth time in a row, since his red card received against Bordeaux.
