The risk of the Holocaust is not that it will be forgotten, but that it will be embalmed and surrounded by monuments and used to absolve all future sins.
Zygmunt Bauman
The genocide being committed in Gaza, the escalation of indiscriminate violence perpetrated by the Israeli army, following the attack carried out by Hamas, is clear proof of how evil the actions of some people, motivated by hatred and revenge, can be. Above all, those, and surely Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is one of them, have not learned from history. And so, he continues to make the same mistakes of the past, despite suffering the most despicable atrocities at the hands of Nazi fascism.
It is worth remembering that global solidarity was present alongside the Jewish people, persecuted, martyred and murdered in the concentration camps in Chelmno, Auschwitz, Majdanek, among others. The repudiation and condemnation of the criminal actions of Nazi fascism, through the German army, has been widespread. But, just as in the past the Jewish people were the victims, now the Palestinian people are being victims in their hands.
The murder of children, women, and the civilian population of Palestine, in the Gaza Strip, is on the rise without anything or anyone stopping it. The indiscriminate bombings, in which hospitals and schools do not escape, is outrageous. The Gaza Ministry of Health reports that among the fatalities there are more than 8,800 women and 13,230 minors, in addition to 340 health workers and 132 journalists. Of the more than 30,100 deaths, around 70% are women and children, including babies a few months or years old.
In just over four months, says Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner General, more children, more journalists, more medical personnel and more UN employees have died in Gaza than anywhere else in the world during a conflict. All of this is a brief summary of what is happening against the Palestinian people. History repeats itself and will repeat itself until reason prevails over barbarism and the inhabitants of the countries of the world cry out for respect for life and human dignity.
However, what is currently happening in Gaza is nothing more than another insult to the human condition, where, as Karl Marx stated, In history as in nature, rot is the laboratory of life. And in this case, the complicit silence of the governments of the West, of the European community, of the United States, shows their degradation. Countries for which if violence, massacres, genocide comes from their allies, it does not constitute any crime nor can it be considered crimes against humanity. On the contrary, it is an act of legitimate right of defense.
The double race of the West, commanded by the governments of the United States and the European Union, in which the good guys are them and, consequently, they are assisted by reason and the bad guys, the criminals, those who must be annihilated, are all those who oppose his designs. There is no need to cite names of characters in history who were once allies of the West and who, by not complying with their mandates, their orders, were later considered their enemies, whom, with just reason, they had to eliminate for the benefit of humanity.
How is it possible that the governments of the European community remain silent in the face of the atrocities committed by the Israeli army, carried out with luxury of force and without any contemplation. Well, for those who have the power, the strength, everything is allowed. What can we say about the complicity of the United States government and the countries under its hegemony, which not even with the control of the media, of the international news networks, have been able to hide the barbarity that is being committed in the Gaza Strip? .
The double standard of the West, which Eduardo Galeano masterfully told us about, in his theater of good and evil, from his book Upside downin which the good ones, those who promote justice, the possessors of the truth, are the Western countries, the rich, personified in the so-called First World countries and the bad ones, the enemies of humanity, the corrupt and murderers , all those who oppose his designs and fight for their emancipation.
The governments of Western countries remain silent about the massacres perpetrated by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, they hide information, they distort the facts, as part of the control they have over the media and also over a large part of the population of the world. Thus, they refrain from sanctioning the crimes against humanity ordered by Benjamin Netanyahu and executed by his army, arguing that they are acts of “legitimate” defense. Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians suffer the cruelties committed against them, since in the face of the power of the strongest, human rights do not exist.
And so, the Western powers repudiated the bloody attacks committed by Hamas against the people of Israel, as did all those who are against violence and human barbarism, but they have said nothing about what the Palestinian people suffer. Well for themas Hannah Arendt pointed out, when referring to the Nazis, violence, power, cruelty, were the supreme capacities of men who had definitively lost their place in the universe and were too proud to yearn for a theory of power that would reintegrate them safely into the world..
In Latin American countries, voices of protest and indignation have been heard by some of their presidents. Hence, Gustavo Petro from Colombia, Miguel Diaz-Canel from Cuba, Luis Arce from Bolivia, Daniel Ortega from Nicaragua, Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela, Gabriel Boric from Chile and Lula Da Silva from Brazil have spoken out. Those who have repudiated, with different nuances and tone of voice, the attack by the Israeli army against the Palestinian civilian population, as well as the demand for a ceasefire.
The escalation of violence undertaken by the Israeli army has even led to the breaking of diplomatic relations by the government of Luis Arce of Bolivia. Now, Lula Da Silva’s speech, in different international forums, has taken an extremely energetic turn, as has that of Gustavo Petro, who compares what the Palestinian people are suffering with what the Jews suffered in the hands of Adolfo Nazism. Hitler.
And what can we say about what was said by the president of Turkey, Tayyip Erdoğan, who has been a relentless critic of the actions taken by Netanyahu. What is happening in Gaza is definitely not a war: it is an attempted genocide because even war has morals, norms and laws that must be followedsaid the Turkish president.
How is it possible that the governments of the European community, in the West, continue to divert attention from what is happening in Gaza and, with the exception of the government of Pedro Sánchez, who has pointed out to Israel that Hamas’ terror does not justify its massacre in GazaThe voices of the West continue in a complicit silence.
Peace in the world will not reign and with it anxiety, if violent actions continue, if hatred and revenge continue to be unleashed, if it is considered that only with bombs and through the terror of rifles, the enemies can be defeated.
