Thiruvananthapuram | Opposition leader VD Satheesan accused the state government of food poisoning and related deaths. Satheesan said the government has completely failed to implement food security. In a press release, VD Satheesan said that the bureaucratic lobby is subverting the food safety department.
Two deaths from food poisoning have been reported in the past six days. The state has reached an alarming state where serious health problems are being reported every day. Kerala, which was ranked first in the National Food Security Index during UDF rule, slipped to sixth place in 2022. It is clear from this that food security in the state is a failure.
The neglect of the government and the health department has led the state to a state where it is not even possible to eat out. The state Department of Food Safety, which is supposed to ensure food safety, and the Department of Health, which is supposed to coordinate their activities, have become asymmetrical.
Even the state department of food safety adopts the method of going for inspection only when there are reports and reports of food poisoning. The inspection of interdistrict teams and the operation of rapid action forces are being sabotaged by the bureaucratic lobby with the tacit approval of government elites. Satheesan also asked what justice the common man should still expect from the Department of Food Safety, which mocks toll-free callers.
