The arrival of a radiology unit puts an end to the installation of the Allégorie medical center, near the town hall. It also allows the emergency care cabinet, located nearby, to be open seven days a week.
The last vacant space of the Allégorie medical center, allée du Roussillon, has just housed a radiology and medical imaging unit. This is the transfer of the radiology center of the Post Office which was until now on the market square. But beyond the move, the new premises allow to develop the activity.
“We are moving from an area of 150 m2 that is not very functional to 330 m2, designed and fitted out for radiology”, explains Doctor Mireille Caroli, radiologist who managed the transfer. “It changes everything and it also allows us to have an additional ultrasound room and to reopen a panoramic dental room”. This new equipment also allows a greater time amplitude and gives the possibility to several doctors to intervene at the same time. “We are now open on weekends, which was not the case when we were at Place du Languedoc,” adds Dr. Caroli. “We consult by appointment on Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 pm while in the afternoon and on Sunday we devote ourselves to emergencies”.
Emergencies open 7 days a week
With the arrival of radiology, the Colomiers* medical-traumatic centre, which is right next door, can now open seven days a week, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Since the end of last year, four emergency physicians consult without appointment for people who have had an accident, injured during sporting events or sent by the 15 when it is not a matter of vital emergencies.
A scanner at the Pyrenees clinic
During the development of the Allégorie medical center, a scanner was requested from the services of the Regional Health Agency to complete the radiology and medical imaging offer. Finally, the choice of installation of the scanner fell on the clinic of the Pyrenees whose structure will be able to allow other evolutions.
“We have two years to set up the project,” explains radiologist Mireille Caroli. “We are working on this with colleagues from Primo (Regional center for pooled imaging in Occitanie) which brings together several radiology groups in the region, including that of the Pasteur clinic in Toulouse. We should then get an MRI at the clinic in the Pyrenees”. In the meantime, the scanner is expected for late 2024, early 2025.
“I am delighted that by requesting a scanner for Allégorie we were able to obtain it at the Pyrenees clinic and that we could welcome all the health professionals originally planned for this project”, says Doctor Pascal Blet with satisfaction. who coordinated the project for nine years. “I am happy for the population of Colomiers and neighboring towns who can now find general practitioners and specialists here, the latest arrival of which is the psychiatrist Sarah Hugot who works with adults and the elderly, mainly. The purpose of this concept has been achieved, namely, to preserve the liberal activity and independence of doctors and health professionals”. 28 doctors and 18 paramedical professionals make up the Allégorie medical center.
