After the court canceled the restrictions applied to the company “Ekologistika”, the waste handling company “Ekobaze” was handed over to handle the tire waste left after the fire that broke out in Alytus. The waste is planned to be removed by May 21 of this year.
On April 3 of last year, the Department of Environmental Protection (AAD) ordered the company “Ekologistika” to stop storing tire waste in premises in Alytus and hand it over to waste handlers.
In order to fulfill the requirements of the department, “Ekologistika” requested to cancel part of the restrictions applied to the company’s assets in the case pending in the Alytus district court.
January 25 of this year. After the Alytus District Court in the “Ekologistika” case passed a ruling to cancel part of the restrictions applied to the company’s assets, in 2024 February 2 the Waste Management Agreement between UAB “Ekologistika” and UAB “Ekobažė” entered into force, according to which the latter undertook to manage the tire waste left after the fire on the company’s territory.
According to AAD, 819 t of tire waste, 2143 t of torn tires and 895 large bags with rubber powder and granules will be taken out and processed by the waste manager UAB “Ekobaze”.
