The moratorium adopted in April 2021 to suspend renewable energy production projects in the territory of the Montluçon community officially ended on Monday, unanimously by the community councilors.

The result of a consultation
For a year and a half, a consultation allowed elected officials to target land on which wind turbines or photovoltaic parks installed on the ground could be erected. “This will allow the mayors to say yes to certain plots and no to others”, said the elected Philippe Glomot, who recalled that the moratorium had been taken due to the “constant reminders of the various promoters” to the mayors of the municipalities. .
Priority areas
As the community is committed to increasing green energy production in the future, it has had to find compromises. It therefore wants to “upgrade” as a matter of priority uncultivated land, abandoned land and polluted sites, but it has also had to target other land in order to achieve its objectives.

Limit agricultural areas
However, the community of Montluçon undertakes to limit nibbling on agricultural land, to guarantee the living environment around the houses and to “preserve the landscape quality of the territory, around the entrances of the cities, in particular or in connection with the development of activities tourist or outdoor recreation, such as cycle paths or hiking trails “.
A place for wind turbines
In this map unveiled on Monday, it is likely that only one site in the Montluçon community will be able to host new wind turbines. This is the Barassier plateau, on the heights of Saint-Victor, where a company has already started a feasibility study.
