The Community of Madrid offers two new massive online courses (MOC) for teachers, as part of its permanent commitment to promoting the digitization of schools and facilitating teachers and professors who can adapt to the changes generated as a result of the health crisis caused. by COVID-19. Both training activities last 20 hours and the registration period will remain open until after Easter, on April 9.

The course Digitize your classroom: Program and work with the resources and contents of Madrid5e in your Virtual Classroom aims to promote the digitalization of classrooms through interactive and multimedia educational digital resources, integrated within the virtual classrooms of EducaMadrid. With the project Madrid_5e, the Ministry of Education and Youth makes available to teachers and students from 5th grade of Primary Education to 2nd grade of Baccalaureate, all the curricular materials of the core subjects in Spanish and English.

This initiative will facilitate that teachers acquire the fundamental digital skills to know how to configure their virtual classrooms with organized digital content and adapting educational itineraries to the specific needs of students, both those with learning difficulties and those with high abilities. This training activity will take place during the months of April and May.

Work with the MadREAD school library

On the other hand, with the course MadREAD school library: Reading plans for better learning in all subjects, a teaching experience is offered so that Madrid teachers know how to work with students the digital library MadREAD Unlimited, with about 20,000 titles in Spanish, English, French and German. This digital library allows its adaptation to students with dyslexia and also to those with visual difficulties, by having the possibility of automatic reading and audiobooks.

In addition, teachers can create reading clubs where they can enrich the books with digital material, multimedia elements and questions to check if the students have understood the reading, in addition to being able to debate and comment on different aspects of the book. Among the objectives of this course is the possibility of understanding and reflecting on the meaning of the digital library in the 21st century and how to promote reading by supporting curricular content in a transversal way between different subjects. Students’ writing and creativity will also be encouraged.

These courses are in addition to all the training activities carried out by the innovation and teacher training centers. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 35,000 teachers have been trained in courses related to digital competence and, from the Ministry of Education and Youth, it will continue to offer other actions that allow the digitization of the centers. To all this offer must be added the one that will be made in the project Innovation Campus to be held throughout the months of July and September.
