The committee investigating the assault on the Capitol summons three more people from Trump’s entourage to testify

MADRID, 12 One. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The committee of the United States House of Representatives that investigates the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021 has summoned three more people from the environment of former President Donald Trump, advisers Andrew Surabian and Arthur Schwartz, and Ross Worthington, to testify. who wrote the speech delivered by the former president the same morning as the riots.

Surabian and Schwartz would have been maintaining communications with the former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., and with the former president’s adviser, Kimberly Guilfoyle, during the demonstrations in Ellipse, which preceded the assault on Capitol Hill, according to the committee, as stated the American chain CNN.

The subpoenas, which were announced Tuesday by committee chairman Bennie Thompson, require the three men to provide documents by Jan. 24 and appear to testify between Jan. 31 and Feb. 2.

“We have reason to believe that the people we have subpoenaed today have relevant information and hope that they will join the more than 340 people who have spoken to the committee as we move forward to investigate this attack,” Thompson said.

Likewise, it has also reiterated that the protests, carried out by “troublemakers” were “an attack on democracy” to “derail the peaceful transfer of power,” according to Bloomberg.

Surabian’s lawyer, Daniel Bean, has declared in a statement published on the adviser’s networks that they plan to cooperate with the committee “within reason”, although they have been “puzzled” with the decision: “It had nothing to do with events that took place that day. He had no involvement in organizing the rally that preceded it and was out of the Trump campaign as of November 15, 2020.”
