The drivers of the combine harvester made their way through Brno at night with police officers. Even so, he preferred to make sure they were going right at intersections. No wonder – he wandered a few tens of minutes long with a four-meter colossus through the streets of the city.
“He did not know where to go, so he asked the city police for help,” said Markéta Skřivánková, a spokeswoman for the Brno city police.
The harvester moved from the harvest in the Prostějov region to another in the Vysočina region. In the Brno part of Líšeň, however, he got into a tangle of deadlines and one-way directions and realized that driving through excavated Brno is much more demanding than driving through the field.
“There are a lot of deadlines here during the holidays. I wouldn’t risk it with a car, let alone a combine harvester,” one of the locals told TV Nova.
The guards escorted the desperate combine harvester from the Líšeň maze to the outskirts of Brno. “After about ten kilometers, he thanked them and assured them that he could continue to do it himself,” Skřivánková added. During the harvest, similar incidents increase.
About a month ago, a farmer from Vysočina ill-secured the cargo when transporting giant hay bales. His packages then rolled around at one of the roundabouts in Žďár nad Sázavou. Fortunately, they didn’t hurt anyone.
But it doesn’t always turn out well. At the end of July, a tractor with a tow overturned on a hill near Oleška, Central Bohemia. The driver and his driver died.
