The Colombian Police announced this Sunday the arrest of 152 members of the criminal gangs of the Tren de Aragua and the Clan del Golfo in a series of operations carried out during the last hours in several locations in the country and especially in the capital, Bogotá.

The arrests have been announced to Noticias RCN by the director of the unit of Unified Action Groups for Personal Freedom (GAULA) of the Colombian Police, Elver Vicente Sanabria, in a concerted operation together with the Attorney General’s Office of Colombia.

The operation has “materialized 152 arrest warrants for the crimes of kidnapping, extortion and conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes” in five cities in the country, according to Sanabria, and during it the security forces have seized more than 450 electronic devices , 400 firearms, grenades, cell phones, vehicles and war material.

The Aragua Train is considered the largest and most powerful criminal gang in Venezuela with a presence in Colombia, while the Clan del Golfo is an armed narcoparamilitary structure inherited from the now dissolved United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) dedicated to international drug trafficking and extortion.
