The cold is causing it again – this weekend’s live ski race in Finland is canceled – Smålands Dagblad

This weekend, some of Sweden’s biggest names in skiing were set to compete in the Scandinavian Cup in Rovaniemi. A contest that would be broadcast live here on the site and in the app.

It won’t be like this.

News broke on Monday morning that the organizers had decided to cancel the races as it will be very cold in Finland this weekend.

“The forecast is for -27 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature for next weekend in Rovaniemi. In this situation, continuing the competition is the only decision we can make.” one writes on the website of the Finnish Ski Association.

The cold limit for the Scandinavian Cup is -17, also exceeded during the race weekend in Östersund before Christmas, where Saturday’s distance race was cancelled.

Some of the Swedish names that should have started from the beginning are Linn Svahn, Moa Lundgren and Ebba Andersson, who were expected to return after illness.

Work is underway to find an alternative venue.

► NOT TO BE MISSED!

The Swedish juniors meet in Lycksele for two races of the Bauhaus Cup and a JVM test. Watch the entire weekend’s races on the site and in the app.
