Bayer 04 Leverkusen – VfB Stuttgart 4: 2
Gerardo Seoane (Leverkusen): “It was a difficult task. Stuttgart made it very difficult for us. There were practically no spaces. We controlled Stuttgart’s transition situations well and we did that well. The decisive factor in the game was that we were lucky after conceding a goal our side. The 2-1 was the turning point for us. Overall, the win is okay.”
Pellegrino Matarazzo (Stuttgart): “We played a decent game. We defended compactly and intensively in the first half. We had one or two scoring chances and could have taken the lead. Shortly after half-time we make it 1-1. The result is the 1 : 2 is of course bitter. Afterwards we tried to take more risks and wanted to put more pressure on it. All in all it’s bitter that we didn’t score.”
VfL Bochum – FC Bayern Munich 4:2
Thomas Reis (Bochum): “Of course we are very, very happy that we scored three points, which probably not everyone had planned for. We didn’t want to let Bayern get involved because the individual class of the individual players is known. A lot goes well on a day like this. We were very active in the duels, we wanted to take the fun out of football for Bayern. That helped a lot with the goals on Sunday.”
Julian Nagelsmann (Bavaria): “Congratulations to Bochum, they played well, it was a deserved win. It was a crappy game, it shouldn’t happen to us. We played very badly in the first half. Our plan didn’t work out well. We should have reacted earlier , as it was then in the second half. It was difficult after the two dream goals, they don’t come in like that every day. In the first half we played relatively calmly. The result in the first half was also well deserved. Then we were better in the second half, except for the first few minutes. If we score earlier, it might be exciting again.”
Borussia Monchengladbach – FC Augsburg 3:2
Adi Hütter (Gladbach): “We all took a load off our shoulders. Augsburg presented us with some problems. Nevertheless, we are the deserved winners. That was an absolute liberation in our situation.”
Markus Weinzierl (Augsburg): “We had a chance to take the lead in the first half. We defended our penalty area too carelessly. That’s why we’re going home empty-handed.”
Eintracht Frankfurt – VfL Wolfsburg 0:2
Oliver Glasner (Frankfurt): “We weren’t good enough where it counts. We weren’t able to capitalize on our superiority in the penalty area. We couldn’t break the three-man line from Wolfsburg today. When you’re worse than him in both penalty areas Opponents, you lose a game.”
Florian Kohfeldt (Wolfsburg): “It was really hard work. We didn’t get into the game at all for 20 minutes. Then we got into the game better. It was even up to half-time.”
Sport Club Freiburg – 1. FSV Mainz 05 1:1
Christian Streich (Fribourg): “Mainz was good in the first half, we weren’t good. I’m glad things changed then. It was good with the kick-off in the second half. We live with the point, but of course we’re not happy with the first halftime.”
Bo Svensson (Mainz): “We played a very good first half and didn’t allow much. It was clear that Freiburg would come in the second half. We had a couple of chances for the second goal before it was 1-1. It was definitely a step forward in away performance.”
SpVgg Greuther Furth – Hertha BSC 2:1
Stefan Leitl (Fuerth): “The early goal put us in our favour. We should have led more in the first half. We were very disciplined and had a high intensity on the pitch, that’s the basis of our game. The second half was very entertaining, it there were a lot of chances to score. We could have decided the game earlier.”
Tayfun Korkut (Hertha): “It was deja vu for us at the beginning, falling behind again early on and chasing after us. We didn’t play a good and determined first half. It got better in the second half. The penalty hurt us.”
RB Leipzig – 1. FC Cologne 3: 1
Domenico Tedesco (Leipzig): “I think we did well in the first half. We had shots on goal 1-1, but we were in really good situations four or five times and then we didn’t get it through to the end. It’s annoying In the second half, when it was 3-0, we went a lot and often to make it 4-0 – which is ok, that speaks for the players. And yet there are four or five situations where you can just drop out , can play back. Then you don’t get involved in this ping-pong game, we still have to learn that.”
Steffen Baumgart (Cologne): “I think we have to evaluate the result – and that’s not a good result. And we have to evaluate the performance and I have to say it was a good game. We had problems for the first quarter of an hour and then you realized that Leipzig is withdrawing more and more. We didn’t have any chances to score, but a football game doesn’t survive if you shoot at goal every two minutes. The performance was right, but of course the result wasn’t.”
