Croatian footballer coach Zlatko Dalič left the national team camp. The reason is the sudden death of his father, the APA agency reported on Wednesday.
According to the daily Jutarnji list, Dalič learned the sad news after Tuesday’s national team training and immediately traveled to his hometown of Livno in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was to attend his father’s funeral there on Wednesday. The 55-year-old coach should then return to the national team and should be on the substitute in Friday’s League of Nations match in Osijek against Austria.
“We want to express our deepest condolences to Zlatek and his family. We tell him that the whole Croatian football family is standing by him at this difficult time, “ stated President of the Croatian Football Association Marijan Kustič.
Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French national team, who also left the “Les Bleus” camp after the tragic report, also died on Tuesday. Assistant Guy Stephan led the trainings during his absence. The national team observed a minute’s silence in memory of their late father.
The reigning world champions will face a duel with Denmark at the Stade de France on Friday. “We are deeply saddened by the news of Didier’s father’s death. Didier left to meet relatives. I want to express my support in these difficult times, “ quoted by the DPA President of the French Football Federation Noël Le Graët.
The Croats and the French are rivals in the 1st Group of the A-Division of the League of Nations, on Monday they will meet in a mutual match in Split.
