The pilot on board requested an emergency landing after experiencing a problem with the landing gear. The plane “landed” at around 2.40pm and the pilot sustained minor injuries, reportedly NBC-owned news organization WRAL.
But one person was missing: the co-pilot.

As the small twin-engine cargo plane was approaching the airport’s runway, a family in nearby Fuquay-Varina suddenly heard a loud thud.
The next day, the pilot was found in the trees in the back yard. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed the Facebook that it was the co-pilot of the plane Charles Hew Crooks (23) who was found dead in the garden, without a parachute.
Crooks and the lead pilot were the only passengers aboard the plane when the crash occurred.

It has long been uncertain whether the 23-year-old jumped out of his own free will or fell. According to the ADS-B Exchange flight monitoring service, the plane was approximately 1,173 meters above the ground when the crash occurred.

Now, however, the autopsy report has concluded that the fall was an accident. This was reported by Nbc News, which obtained access to the report signed by the North Carolina coroner.
The 23-year-old had neither alcohol nor drugs in his blood, according to the doctor. Nor was any disease discovered that could have caused the fall.

According to the 23-year-old’s father, Hew Crooks, his son had worked hard for many years to become a pilot. The dream was to work in aviation.
– He wouldn’t trade his life for anyone else. He loved what he did, his father told the news WRL extension this summer.
