After a series of postponed matches this weekend, the Premier League clubs will meet on Monday to discuss the ongoing corona crisis.
A meeting with managers and captains is scheduled for later this week, according to Sky Sports. Premier League director Richard Masters has in a letter to the clubs urged all players to get vaccinated.
– We have emphasized the importance of vaccination, and it has never been more important, he says.
In October, official Premier League figures showed that 81 percent of players had received at least one vaccine dose, while 68 percent were fully vaccinated. At the same time, 94 percent of Bundesliga players were fully vaccinated.
– There are several concerns and cases lately. I just hope that the Premier League takes into account the health of the players, says Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard.
Villa’s home game against Burnley was postponed just over two hours before kick-off on Saturday due to positive tests, injuries and illness in the Villa squad.
– The league understands that the decision to postpone the match at such short notice will frustrate and disappoint supporters, reports the Premier League.
Aston Villa state that the club acted as quickly as possible, but apologize for the inconvenience caused to Burnley and the club’s supporters.
So far, only Leeds – Arsenal have completed this PL round, while according to the plan, there are three new matches on Sunday. Six matches are postponed.
It is feared that more matches may smoke on Sunday.
