A little less than a month ago, the Clippers moved to Denver to face the Nuggets in Colorado. A game they lost in overtime after having… the fear of their lives. Indeed, that day, their plane was struck by lightning, which caused very heavy turbulence. Paul George tells.
Air travel is routine for NBA players. In the space of a season, each team plays a minimum of 41 away games and therefore spends a lot of time in airports and in the air. But some flights are necessarily more pleasant than others. And sometimes the members of a team can even experience a big scare.
That’s what they’ve been through Paul George and his colleagues in late February on a flight from Los Angeles to Denverwhen their plane was struck by lightning.
“The pilot warned us that there would be turbulence during the flight. We weren’t more worried than that, we’ve flown thousands of times, we’re used to it. But during the flight, we felt that the plane was falling, literally, it was like a free fall. It’s like when you ride the roller coaster and you fall, it was the same feeling.
Everyone on the plane shouted, ‘OH SHIT!’ And it happened several times. At one point, it even felt like the plane had stopped working. I thought to myself, do I send an SMS (to his family, Ed.) right now?”
Fortunately, everyone arrived in Denver safe and sound, and it was only once in Colorado that the relieved Clippers realized that their plane had been struck by lightning. For the record, Los Angeles went to bow to the Nuggets then, not really surprising after such an episode.
Ngl we thought it was over wit 😂😂🤦🏽♂️

Two years ago, the Jazz also had a big scare on the plane. In full flight, the aircraft had been forced to land in an emergency after hitting a… group of birds on takeoff.
