Now they are getting a wish they expressed in a survey fulfilled: from November 27th, the ticket will also be available digitally. “With the digital climate ticket, public transport is even more convenient and comfortable,” said Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) on Thursday.
Downloading the app is enough
To get this, you install the ÖBB, Westbahn or Wiener Linien app on your smartphone and retrieve the climate ticket there. Then enter data such as card number and date of birth and the climate ticket appears in the app and can be shown instead of the conventional card on every journey. Further compatible apps from other Austrian transport associations are to be added on an ongoing basis.
Read on the topic:
It has been ensured that the ticket can be checked on all public transport and, on the other hand, that requirements for the necessary security against misuse are met. And it is accepted by each of the more than 100 transport operators in Austria.
Gewessler wants to use the digital option to inspire even more people to switch to climate-friendly mobility and thus come closer to the climate goals.
