The Climate Emergency at Dover Street Market 3537

Le Dover Street Market 3537 is one of the most fashionable concept stores of recent years. Launched by the Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, also creator of the brand “Comme des Garçons”, the space these days focuses on the climate emergency through an artistic selection displayed in its Parisian shop.

Dover Street Market: carte blanche to artists with an ecological message.

Scheduled over a period of three months, “Burns” is the very first exhibition of the Dover Street Market 3537. More than a simple artistic installation, this one aims to highlight artists and creators spreading a message linked to ecology, the protection of biodiversity or even climate-related migrations.

Among the artists exhibited, we find in particular Imrush Asha and his project “Future Shock” presenting sculptures made from used clothing. Here, the use of clothing intended to be sent to Africa denounces the functioning ofa system that buries the country under a pile of clothes.

Upcycling: an eco-responsible trend in the form of workshops.

This event is also accompanied by workshops encouraging the practice of upcycling. Until September 19, visitors can take part in a workshop presenting the techniques of the designer duo Zaragoza and Filippini to give new life to used clothes – to bring them themselves or to buy on site -, in particular via a process of tincture from natural ingredients. Enough to create a 100% eco-responsible and unique piece.

Program to come at Dover Street Market.

Until its closure in December, “Brûlures” will unveil various projects along the way. The artist Laurent Grasso will present in particular an installation entitled “Artificilis” having as subject the majesty and the destructive potential of nature. The Dover Street Market will also welcome Irish sculptor John Gerrard around a work that invites reflection on the challenges of climate change and the preservation of diversity. Finally, Olafur Eliasson’s “Little Sun” project will be honored, including portable solar-powered lamps of the same name.
