The Shanghai Puppet Theater recently launched a large-scale multimedia shadow puppet show “Nine Colored Deer”. Through technical research and inheritance of innovative classics, the “visual effects” of movies and shadow puppets can be almost perfectly integrated in the theater.

According to reports, there are more than 40 shadow puppets in the new version of “Nine-Colored Deer”, and dozens of drafts were changed before and after the creation process. Only the image of the protagonist of “Nine-Colored Deer” has adjusted more than 30 draft designs.
Interestingly, the new version of “Nine-Colored Deer” subverts the traditional shadow puppet technique. In the past, shadow puppets could only hide behind the scenes, but this creative team developed a “fluorescent shadow puppet”, which brought the shadow puppets to the front for the first time. During the performance, the fluorescent shadow puppets in front of the scene and the traditional shadow puppets behind the scenes can be “switched instantly” and seamlessly connected.
