What are your main demands today?
“Thanks to the determination of our speech therapist from Thionville, we managed to maintain the lip-reading workshops in Thionville. However, Thionville is far away, and we really want to be able to resume a lip reading workshop in Bouzonville. Unfortunately, we are unable to find a professional who is available and trained in this technique. We also need a place to store our equipment and documentation, which are currently scattered around the homes of the members of the office. In addition, the installation of a magnetic induction loop in the premises of the associations where we meet would facilitate communication for many of us. »
What are your current activities?
“First of all, there are the monthly meetings which are held every first Monday of the month, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at 4, rue de la Gare in Bouzonville. They are important because they allow us to keep in touch with our members and provide them with social ties and support if necessary. We are also available at the community hotel on the third Thursday of the month from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Among the other activities, there are interventions at the Antoine-Gapp vocational school, participation in the World Mobility and Accessibility Day in Saint-Avold and meetings with associations at the Arènes de Metz. We participate in various boards of directors and meetings to promote accessibility for people with disabilities. »
What are your projects ?
“We are going to continue our hotlines and develop friendly meetings of members in Bouzonville and Yutz. The association will also participate in the permanence at the Departmental House for the Disabled (MDPH) as well as at the Patients’ House, at the regional hospital center of Mercy. We will be present on National Hearing Day on March 9 at Metz City Hall, will take part in a conference on 114, the emergency number for the hearing impaired, and a conference on the cochlear implant. Finally, we will collaborate and participate in many meetings, events and municipal and departmental commissions. »
