The leader of Ctera Sonia Alesso, together with representatives of the CTA de los Trabajadores and the Milagro Sala Front, delivered a petition to the Casa de Jujuy to demand the cessation of the repressive measures. “The constitutional reform is designed to suppress the voice of minorities and, on the other hand, to criminalize the protest,” said Gómez, after delivering the petition. “It is worrying, but not surprising, that in Morales’s first campaign ad as presidential candidate, he shows judicial persecution against Milagro as a proposal,” said the leader.
La Ctera accused the government of Jujuy of “curbing the right to strike and to demonstrate”, of increasing “the amounts of the fines for violations to those who carry out public demonstrations” and enabling “the possibility of laying off public employees who carry out protests of repeatedly.” The teachers’ union urged the Morales government “to stop with this systematic and anti-democratic policy against union organizations and all workers. Ctera demands the repeal of any rule that conflicts with the principles of the National Constitution.”
As is known, Milagro Sala was arrested on January 16, 2016 for participating in a camp in front of the Jujuy government house, as soon as Morales had taken office. “This government has the possibility of granting Milagro a pardon.
