“We only ask for action,” says Laurent Robé, new head of the Montluçonnaise (Allier) section of the Civil Protection.
For some time now, the association, approved by the state and whose main purpose is to provide first aid posts at events, has been felt “forgotten”. “We realized that many people thought we no longer existed, regrets Laurent Robé. However, we never left. “
The team was even strengthened this summer to reach ten volunteers. “Five of us are under 25,” says the manager. He gives a lot of energy to the group. “
Provide first aid
The Civil Protection “can intervene for everyone”. “An organizer, private or associative, can contact us to request our presence. We evaluate the risks and define the needs. We can provide a simple alert point or a large-scale rescue system (DPS), ”explains Laurent Robé.

The Montluçon branch is not alone in the Allier. “The association operates at the departmental level, with three offices: Montluçon, Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule and Moulins. In all, 75 trained volunteers can intervene anywhere on the territory.
The greatest strength of the Montluçon Civil Protection? “We are now two instructors on site. We can then train our instructors, who train our rescuers themselves, “says the manager. The Civil Protection can provide training in the first team (PSE).
Autonomous operation that has already brought together five volunteers at level two of the first aid team (PSE2). “The PSE2 allows you to take care of a victim up to the stretcher. If you can immobilize her, put her on the stretcher … “
Social missions
Laurent Robé and his assistant, Joëlle Brunet, have also undergone psychological training, which allows them to manage “victims in shock or with psychological problems”. “We will also offer training in animal rescue,” adds the manager.

Various and necessary missions, which everyone can benefit from, and which everyone can participate in. “We only ask for a minimum of 80 hours per year from our volunteers, in exchange for training provided free of charge. “A training that can amount to several hundred euros,” useful in everyday life. “
The only drawback for the association: the locals. “We can’t get the ambulance in here, so it’s parked in a parking lot in Domérat. It is not very practical. The town hall, “listening”, assured that it was looking for a solution.
