The Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of A Coruña has seized more than 70 kilos of shellfish and other species, especially spider crab and crab, in an operation against poaching carried out in the port of Lorbé, in Oleiros.
Members of this unit detected the arrival of two boats to port and observed how, from one of them, a person got off with two baskets full of crab. Thus, the agents verified that he was introducing these baskets inside a vehicle, as well as other boxes with other species. From the other vessel detected, its crew members came down with nets full of crab specimens (which is in the closed season), some of them ovate.
In total, 38 kilos of crab were intervened, valued at around 900 euros; 10 kilos of spider crab, valued at around 400 euros; and 26 kilos of other species, valued at around 800 euros.
The spider crabs and oxen were returned to the sea, since they were still alive, while the rest of the catches were delivered to the Padre Rubinos charity center in A Coruña.
