The City’s vehicular traffic collapses due to the start of the school year – Publinews – 2024-02-22 16:48:54

Traffic in Guatemala is a situation that seems to increasingly overwhelm the different streets and avenues of the metropolitan area. An exit that would take 15 minutes to reach your destination could cost you up to 40 minutes stuck in traffic congestion.

According to Amilcar Montejo, road spokesman for the Municipality of Guatemala, as of this day, the activation of 100% of the schools is complete. This without leaving aside the fact that the country’s Universities resumed face-to-face activities.

That is why more than 650,000 vehicles will enter the city per day, from dormitory municipalities such as Villa Nueva, Mixco, Amatitlán, Fraijanes and San José Pinula. The roads with the highest vehicular load are: Aguilar Batres, Periférico, Carretera al Atlántico, Carretera a El Salvador, Calzada San Juan and Calzada Roosvelt.

The return of school buses and the increase in vehicle trips will have an impact on mobility, so pedestrians are recommended to respect traffic signs and, above all, not to block intersection routes. Likewise, MuniGuate reported that 45 reversible lanes are enabled during peak hours, which will alleviate traffic congestion.

SOME RECOMMENDATIONS

– To parents who take their children to study, try to leave them as quickly as possible.

– Keep the car in optimal condition, since technical failures en route could complicate the situation even more.

– Do not use your mobile device while driving.

-Leave minutes before your destination.

– Do not park on streets or avenues with greater vehicular traffic.
