The Governing Council has approved this Monday, at the proposal of the Minister for the Environment and Urban Services, a multi-year expenditure for the restoration of the Santa Catalina park. It will have an amount of 4,061,000 euros that will be divided between the current year and the coming year.
Thus, in the remainder of 2022, 500,000 euros will be invested in this restoration, while for next year the budget will be 3,561,361 euros. Similarly, the Government spokesman has reported that these actions have been entrusted to TRAGSA.
The goal is for the vegetation to take root in the area, something that has not been achieved so far. To do this, Alberto Gaitán explained, a contribution and extension of the soils will be made, giving them sufficient thickness, in addition to chemical fertilization. Likewise, he has pointed out, an adequate and viable network of vegetation is being developed for the area.
Along with this objective, the reform will also serve to restore some elements of the park that may be deteriorated, from furniture to the different roads that run through it.
This has not been the only Environment proposal approved this Monday by the Governing Council, since the financing for the contracting of means of combating marine pollution for 36,000 euros has also been approved. The extension of the contract in force ends in July 2023, so the procedures for the new bidding.
