Announced several weeks ago, the second wave of the covid is now here. And if the Montluçon sector seemed untouched until now, it is now hit hard.
Faced with the multiplication of positive cases, and in particular among the staff of the Montluçon hospital center, the city of the banks of the Cher has therefore decided to make the Réaux gîte available to caregivers.

A welcome reserved for positive staff
With a capacity of about fifteen places, it will be able to accommodate positive health personnel and caregivers, “asymptomatic or symptomatic”, as explained by Frédéric Laporte, the mayor of Montluçon.
“It’s a little different from what we had done during the previous period,” said the elected representative, recalling the provision for all caregivers, during the first wave, of several boarding schools in Montluçonnais .
We decided to make the lodging available to the hospital, and by discussing with the management, this time it preferred to put a solution in place for those affected by the virus.

Only positive staff will be able to settle there. “Today, that’s the emergency,” continues the elected. “We still have a certain number of staff affected. So those who want to isolate themselves from their family to avoid transmitting covid can go there. But it is also open to staff other than hospital staff, such as nursing home staff for example. “

Other possible solutions
The municipality will also be ready in the event of excessive filling of the Réaux gîte.
“The hospital is taking stock of people who are positive and want to self-isolate. And there are new ones that will inevitably arrive. “

“So we’ll see how it goes. When we have ten staff at Réaux, we will see to set up other solutions. We can go further if necessary. “
As of November 4, sixty people positive for covid are hospitalized in Montluçon. Eight are in intensive care, including a 25-year-old. Eleven nursing home residents are also positive. Eleven people have died.
