The City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon will open on May 6, 2022

After several postponements, the opening date of the City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon is finally official: May 6, 2022.

After 2 years of work, the City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon will open its doors on May 6, 2022.

The date of the official inauguration has been confirmed by Mayor François Rebsamen during his vows this Friday, January 7 after a leak the day before, on a Facebook page dedicated to the City of Gastronomy. The elected official was pleased to see the construction site come to an end. He briefly recalled its genesis: It was in June 2013 that Dijon’s candidacy was selected as one of the four cities that will form the network of cities of Gastronomy. It was in 2014 that we chose the Eiffage group as the operator to carry out the work alongside us. It was in 2015 that the last services of the CHU left the site, that the protected sector of Dijon was classified by Unesco and that we presented the project at the Universal Exhibition in Milan.“.

First announced for December 2021 then for April 2022, the site, costing 200 million euros and enamelled with many controversies, will therefore finally be inaugurated on May 6.

François Rebsamen promises to do so “in the Dijonnaise style, during a big popular festival“, “like three years ago for the reopening of the Museum of Fine Arts in Dijon and ten years ago for the inauguration of the tramway“.

The City of Gastronomy and Wine of Dijon extends over 7 hectares.

In this new place, you will be able to discover 2500 wine references from all over the world. This cellar will act as a vinotheque accessible to all.

Visitors will be able to taste nearly 250 different wines and learn about oenology. This “cultural center” represents 1700m2 over the entire project.

Within the City of Gastronomy and Wine, a 5000m2 commercial space will offer shops, dedicated to luxury and cuisine, as well as restaurants and a 10-screen cinema complex.

It is also a vast real estate operation including a 4-star hotel and an eco-district of 450 housing units.

The mayor of Dijon, François Rebsamen, hopes to make it a showcase of the city of the Dukes for foreign tourists.
