The City of Antwerp starts with corona shelter for homeless people

Homeless people who are infected with the corona virus will soon be sheltered in a building on Lange Scholiersstraat in Antwerp-North. According to the city, there was a need for a permanent shelter, even though the number of infected homeless people has remained limited.

“In Antwerp we have about 800 homeless people and fifteen of them have been tested positive in the entire past period,” says Tom Meeuws (sp.a). “The problem was that we then had to find a solution on a case-by-case basis. Now we provide one place. There everyone gets a room with a shower and toilet. People can relax there or they can stay there while waiting for the test results. ”
