Eight years after a student attacked him in the classroom, a majority in the city council will give teacher Clemens Saer compensation and an apology.
It was a May day in 2014 that the 18-year-old student strangled Saers while teaching at Oslo Handelsgym.
Other students in the class perceived that the teacher was in danger of death and intervened, according to the verdict from Oslo District Court. Saers suffered permanent injuries to his throat and post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident. The student was sentenced to six months in prison.
