The City Council will allocate 4,500 euros to UNICEF to protect Syrian children from the effects of the pandemic | Radio Palencia | Present

He Palencia City Council will allocate 4,500 euros to UNICEF to collaborate in the protection program for Syrian children in a situation of vulnerability from the effects of the pandemic, through the distribution of hygiene kits and drinking water for these and their families in the displaced camps located in various areas of the country.

This program, with which UNICEF has proposed to reach more than 5 million people who are right now outside their places of origin due to the situation of war and violence that the country has experienced for several years, also provides the acquisition and distribution of supplies for health centers (medical equipment, individual protection and hygiene systems, for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease), as well as products for the disinfection of basic facilities.

If in normal conditions the needs of water, sanitation, hygiene, food and sanitation are already important in the camps for displaced people, these have worsened very significantly with the arrival of the coronavirus, so since the Consistory has been considered vital, respond to the request of UNICEF, through the existing line for emergency aid.

Likewise, and also as a result of the pandemic, three other entities benefiting from aid for international development cooperation, more specifically, Red Cross, I care about you and we unite, have formally requested the extension of the deadline for the justification of the subsidies they receive from the City Council and which initially ends on October 30.
