The Councilor for Education and Culture, Teo García, participated in the IX Conference on Cinema and Education organized as part of the Festival of Cinema and the Word, CiBRA; an initiative that has the collaboration of the Municipality of Toledo and the Teacher Training Center of Castilla-La Mancha.

First of all, Teo García highlighted cinema as a tool for training and education, as well as these conferences which in their ninth edition will address issues such as mental health and inclusion in the scholastic and academic sphere, conferences that will end this Saturday with the screening of the film ‘The consecration of spring’ by Fernando Franco, an event that will see the leading actor, Telmo Irueta, as its protagonist.

“From the City Council I wanted to convey to you the commitment of our city to education and cinema as a vehicle for raising awareness that contributes to personal development and your daily work”, said the municipal councilor for Education and Culture, not without first pointing out that the Festival “It makes perfect sense in this ancient city and in the Three Cultures, a city of encounter in which we will transfer good practices and proposals that you can apply in your role as teachers”.

As explained by Teo García, who was accompanied by the director of the Teacher Training Center, José Antonio Bravo, and the coordinator of the initiative, Nerea Tello, the fundamental objectives of these sessions are to introduce students to the knowledge of the audiovisual language, the its aesthetics and its history and develop the critical spirit in students accompanied by intellectual, emotional and critical growth.

To this end, a series of films and activities have been planned, such as the Mini-CiBRA and the Cinematographic Meetings, which will include the participation of students from some of the city’s educational centers, such as IES Alfonso X El Sabio, IES El Greco, School of Art , IES Universidad Laboral or IES Sefarad.
