The students had been without hot water for weeks. DUWO therefore decided to place shower cubicles in front of the door. These are normally used at festivals.
But that was not really a solution for the residents. For example, because of the coronavirus, there were concerns about the safety of the shared showers.
‘Not desirable’
The D66 group shared these concerns and therefore asked written questions about them. “This is of course not desirable,” the college said in a response yesterday. Clarification was therefore requested from the housing provider, who indicated that he was carrying out work to remedy the problems with the hot water.
The work should actually be completed by mid-June, but that has not been successful. Therefore, the outdoor showers remained for a while. These showers have also been chosen for other renovation projects, DUWO reported. Although it was admitted that few people used this.

To remove concerns about the spread of the coronavirus, the shower cubicles were cleaned as best as possible, the housing company emphasized. The GGD has sought advice on this. Professional cleaners clean the cabins, and gangsters must also use the same shower.

But although the college yesterday called the situation “very undesirable”, the problems have in fact been resolved for a few weeks, a spokesperson for DUWO said. The students can simply take a shower at home.
