The City Council advises against bathing in the Peña del Cuervo | Radio Zaragoza

After the two deaths of young people this summer in that area of the Gállego river, the City Council “discourages” bathing in that area in which the Municipal Institute of Public Health has carried out an analysis that also confirms the lack of water quality in this stretch of the Gállego river. Although the competence to ban or limit the bathroom in this area is not of the Consistory, but of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, the City Council has installed informational posters advising against this practice. La Peña del Cuervo is located in the rural neighborhood of Peñaflor and many people gather there, especially on weekends, although it is not a bathing area and therefore does not have any control.

Water is also a problem due to its lack of quality. According to the Deputy Mayor of Public Services, Natalia Chueca, they have done “what was in our power, awaiting a response and other definitive actions by the CHE, the competent institution”. In addition, the consistory has closed the parking lot and has prohibited cars from parking on the access road. On the other hand, there is a request for more police presence in the area, as agreed on August 12 at a meeting of the mayor Natalia Chueca and the mayor of Peñaflor, Mamén López.
