The City of Thionville puts its fingers in the socket! Anxious to improve its offer of electric charging stations, it is continuing this approach under the guise of Siscodipe, for Syndicate monitoring the concession for public electricity distribution in the Pays des Trois-Frontières.
A saving breath later, note that this union, which carries the energy aspirations of a hundred municipalities, has commissioned a study aimed at creating a master plan for the development of charging infrastructure for electric cars. We breathe again.

Full (of good intentions)
Once this administrative framework is in place, what follows is simpler. Consulted by Siscodipe, the Mobile Power Solution design office identified the needs and the sites best suited to the deployment of this energy source.
Important clarification: integrating this program on a large scale allows the City to benefit from the financial support of many partners (State, Region, Enedis, etc.). A “white” operation, in short, which obtained the blank check of elected officials at the last city council.

The roadmap
In Thionville, this file is managed by Brigitte Schneider. The works assistant unveiled the first phase of this deployment, which provides for the installation, by the end of the year, of 21 terminals. A second part, this time comprising around twenty sockets, is scheduled for 2025. Finally, a last stage, in 2027, will increase the park to 79 terminals.
At first glance clear, this system still suffers from a few gray areas, such as the choice of service providers: “Two companies have offered, explains the assistant. They offer to take charge of the deployment, management and maintenance of the terminals. Particular attention will also be paid to maintenance, so as not to find ourselves in the same situation as Strasbourg with terminals out of service…”
The question of the intensity of these terminals, fast charge (50 to 100 kWh) or semi-fast, has not yet been decided. The price is not the same depending on the type of equipment: a fast-charging station charges 49 euro cents per kWh when its lower-speed version fluctuates between 24 and 50 euro cents per kWh: “The company that will win the market will invoice the user per kWh at the purchase price, assures Brigitte Schneider. It will be remunerated on additional services such as the rental of connected lockers. »

Reserves
On the sidelines of this vote, Guy Harau (EELV) emphasized the “vacuum car” syndrome, a practice likely to complicate access to these terminals: “An operator proposes to charge €2 for a quarter of hour of occupation of the post-loading space”, replied the works assistant. A dissuasive measure, let’s agree.
Philippe Noller (PC), in accordance with his political philosophy, for his part pointed out “the discriminating nature of electricity. The cost per kWh will therefore be 46 cents in town and 15 cents for those who have a garage and a socket. It’s really socially discriminatory, ”he insists.
Pierre Cuny, the mayor, followed suit: “The subject is indeed eminently complicated, he admits. Installing terminals in the Liberty car park, for example, will not pose a problem. But how do you do that in neighborhoods where people don’t have garages and cars sleep outside? And to add: “Questions arise about the future of electric car batteries and the use of hydrogen. »
Hence this careful behavior of the mayor: “We must accelerate on the electric but not rush. »
