Biel suburbsThe citizen who smeared the town hall with his blood was arrested
The man who threatened the municipal administration in Orpond (BE) has been remanded in custody.
After being banned from the perimeter, a citizen of Orpond who terrorized the communal authorities was remanded in custody this week, as reported today “20 minutes”. This querulous has stained with his blood a facade of the town hall after breaking two information display cases and three mailboxes, so that the town hall was placed under the surveillance of a security guard.
“We are all relieved, me, my collaborators and the citizens”, declares the president of the commune Oliver Matti, informed of the arrest by the Public Ministry. The authorities know the identity of the querulous, since he signed his emails without hiding his address.
In Orpond (BE), the threats against the municipal administration were “increasingly aggressive”. In the Bienne conurbation, these intimidations recalled those of the frenzied Peter K. arrested in 2010, the inspiration for the film “Peter K. alone against the State”, soon to be broadcast in French-speaking cinemas. “I haven’t seen the film, but I can say that the two stories are not comparable,” says Oliver Matti.
The presence of a security guard during the opening hours of the town hall was intended to appease the civil servants, but also to facilitate access to the counters for the citizens: previously, the doors were locked and each visit was filtered. This monitoring is no longer necessary.
The disgruntled citizen disagrees with a decision or service, but the authorities do not detail the reasons for his anger during the ongoing investigation. The surveillance of the town hall is the responsibility of the taxpayers, but the Town Council reserves the right to request reimbursement from the author of the threats when he is judged: “This question is the subject of a legal examination” , says the mayor.
