The infidelity portal “Ashley Madison” has existed since 2002 and advertises uncomplicated online dates in the area. The customer data has now been evaluated. The result is a ranking of the cities in which the most affairs and infidelities take place.
Accordingly, Frankfurt am Main is in first place. As an international financial metropolis, the city repeatedly accommodates travelers from all over the world or people who only make a short stop in “Mainhattan”. The sex counselor Mignon Kowollik explains the situation as follows: “They long for sexual closeness and non-commitment and are happy to take the opportunity to pursue an affair. This variety provides opportunities for increasing one’s sexual desires or raising one’s self-esteem.”
Second place goes to the capital Berlin, third place goes to Munich. Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf follow in sixth, seventh and three places, respectively, of the most populous NRW cities. Essen in eleventh place and Bochum in fifteenth place are also in the top 20 from the Ruhr area – as are Mönchengladbach (18), Dortmund (19) and Wuppertal (20).
