The Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of the Government of Andalusia, through the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Regulation, reports that this last week a new case of West Nile fever (WNF) has been confirmed in the Sevillian municipality of Los Palacios and Villafranca, after completing confirmation analyses.
In relation to the circulation of the West Nile virus in the trapping stations of the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, in the real-time analyzes carried out, no presence of West Nile virus has been detected. While from the results of the entomological surveillance information provided by EBD-CSIC, as well as the Mosquito Control Service of the Provincial Council of Huelva, Circulation of viruses has been detected in transmitting mosquitoes captured in the Cádiz municipality of Tarifa.

On the other hand, the presence of West Nile virus has been detected in five horses: one in Algodonales and another in Puerto Serrano, both in the province of Cádiz; one in the Jaén municipality of Lopera; and one in La Campana and another in Morón de la Frontera, these last two in Seville; communicated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development.

Furthermore, regarding densities of WNV-transmitting mosquito species in the second week of October, low values are observed in the province of Cádiz and Málaga (all with Grade I). In the case of Seville, the populations of transmitting mosquitoes are at medium levels (Grade II) in Villamanrique de la Condesa, while the levels are higher in the Brazo del Este, Cañada de los Pájaros and Dehesa de Abajo in La Puebla del Río, with Grade IV, IV and III respectively.
