The Cincomarzada is the most demanding festival in Zaragoza. After the stoppage forced by the covid, this year the celebration and its demands are recovered, which do not sound like new. Once again, the neighborhood entities and the groups that participate in the protest march will demand a high-capacity line linking the east-west axis from the city; improve primary care; the elder care or recovery of participatory budgets.
These are just some of the slogans that can be seen this Saturday in the neighborhood parade, under the motto ‘Let’s take back the party, let’s take back the city,’ which will depart at 11:00 a.m. from Plaza del Pilar to Parque Tío Jorge and that will be enlivened by the presence of 18 big heads. A traditional act in which the associations convey to the city government team the most urgent needs of the people of Zaragoza through the reading of a manifesto.
But not everything is vindication because the Cincomarzada is also a popular festival. This year, the demands of covid have forced the Zaragoza Neighborhood Federation (FABZ) to adapt the program and the celebration. To begin with, they will be enabled three fenced areas with restricted access for supporters, where the hospitality areas will be set up. In the rest of the park it will be forbidden to consume drinks or food.
The capacity will be 1,300 people, 500 for the members of the Peñistas Union, as many for Interpeñas and 300 for those of the FABZ. There will also be two stages, one of them in the Tío Jorge civic center with capacity for 250 people and children’s programming.
Both the FABZ representative, Rafa Tejedor, and the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Javier Rodrigo, have appealed to the responsibility of citizens to avoid crowds both in the accesses to the enclosed areas and to the rest of the park. The mayor explained that this year 45,000 euros have been allocated to the organization of the party, more than other years due to the circumstances, which require the setting up of specific spaces.
The groups will reassemble their booths in the central corridor of Tío Jorge, up to 38, although this year they will not be able to install their bars.
Reinforcement in transport
The city council will reinforce public transport during Saturday. Thus, lines 26 and 29 will have two more vehicles in service from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and during Ci1 and Ci2 they will provide service with articulated buses.
Reinforcements higher than those of other years will be included in the tram. In the morning, during the main hours of the celebration, the frequencies will be between 9 and 11 minutes and in the afternoon the service will be extended even more, with the introduction of 3 double units that, together with another 9 simple ones, will offer a frequency of passage of between 7 and 9 minutes until 10:00 p.m.
The celebration will end at 7:00 p.m., when the perimeter catering areas will be closed, which will stop serving at 6:30 p.m. The mask will be mandatory when the distances recommended by the health authorities cannot be respected.
