From September 9 to 14, 2024, Manizales will become the stage to inspire and connect all music lovers, kicking off one of the most important musical events in Colombia.
Since the International Music Festival, CiMa, began in 2016, it has been a space where world music comes to life. This year, guests will participate in master classes, academic forums and expert panels.
The goal is for every inhabitant of Manizales to be able to enjoy music at its best, which is why concerts have been prepared at the Rogelio Salmona University Cultural Center, the Banco de la República Cultural Center and the Teatro Los Fundadores Cultural Center, so that good sounds reach every corner of the city.
The complete program will be shared very soon through the website of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Caldas and on social media, so that you can mark the activities on your calendar and be part of this week that celebrates music and creativity.
The CiMa International Music Festival, created in 2016, is an initiative of the Music Department of the University of Caldas in collaboration with various public and private institutions. Its objective is to enrich musical and artistic development at a regional and national level. This event has established itself as a space for meeting and dialogue for musicians, academics and music researchers from around the world.
The ninth edition of the CiMa International Music Festival will feature a program that will include virtual and in-person events. This Festival, which takes its name from the “CiMa” where Manizales is located, also highlights the cultural and natural wealth of the city, known for its cultural events, its mountains and the Nevado del Ruiz volcano.
CiMa’s objectives:
- Promoting musical education: through workshops, master classes and seminars given by renowned national and international teachers, the Festival seeks to provide high-quality training to music students and professionals. These activities allow participants to expand their knowledge and skills, as well as explore new techniques and repertoires.
- Promoting musical diversity: The Festival includes a wide variety of musical genres and styles, from classical music to contemporary and folk expressions. This diversity not only enriches the cultural offering of the event, but also facilitates the exchange of ideas and experiences between musicians from different traditions and backgrounds.
- Promoting artistic creation: the Festival offers a stage for the presentation of new musical works and projects, stimulating creativity and innovation in the musical field. Composers and artists have the opportunity to present their work.
- Strengthening the musical community: The Festival serves as a platform for building collaborative networks between institutions, musicians and other actors in the cultural sector. These connections are essential for the sustainable development of music and art, and contribute to the consolidation of a more united and dynamic musical community.
- Accessibility and citizen participation: In order to make music accessible to a wider audience, the festival organises free concerts and activities in public spaces. This strategy not only democratises access to culture, but also promotes active community participation in artistic events.
