The Cie Koubi came to seek the encouragement of its audience in Brive (Corrèze) before flying to New York

This Saturday, September 17, on the occasion of the Heritage Days, in front of the theater, seven dancers of the Cie Koubi came to ask for the encouragement of the Brivistes by presenting them a new formula for the show. Boys do not Crybefore unveiling it, on September 21, in New York, on the occasion of the opening of the Fall For Dance festival, at the New York City Center.

One last public proof

A 30-minute version of this one-hour choreography by Hervé Koubi and Fayçal Hamlat, between hip-hop, street dance and contemporary dance, punctuated by texts written with Chantal Thomas on “what to dance when we are young”.

“We always have a little fear of the stage and one last test outside the walls, out of context, pushes us, challenges us, but it is very useful”, explained Hervé Koubi to the wide audience. Last year, under the same conditions, again in Brive, we introduced ourselves Odyssey before leaving for the Venice Biennale and this brought us luck. “

Complementary partnerships for the Cie Briviste

This test, proposed as part of the Heritage Days with the Department of Culture, was also an opportunity to remember the company’s attachment to the city that saw it born 20 years ago, when it collaborated with other cities (Calais and Belfort) and has therefore been somewhat less present there.

The boys cry, a choreography with strong messages.

“But the company maintains its ties, its collaborations, its support at both city and departmental level; my dancers live here, says Hervé Koubi. If Brive weren’t there to support us, we wouldn’t exist! The residence in Calais and the partnership with the national Belfort scene are complementary and allow for expansion. The bustling city can be proud of its dance company that goes around the world. “
