Jakarta –
Russian President Vladimir Putin considered confident of victory in the battle in Ukraine. This was stated by the Director United States Central Intelligence Agency or CIABill Burns.
Reported by AFP news agency, Burns said Putin was very confident that Russia would not lose in Ukraine. Putin is also said to be doubling the conflict in Ukraine in order to win.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin believes he must not lose in Ukraine and will “double up” the war there, but shows no signs of planning to use tactical nuclear weapons,” Bill Burns said Saturday at a Financial Times conference.
Putin Still Confidence in His Military Capability in Ukraine
Amid the failure of Russian troops to seize the capital Kiev, Burns said Putin still believes in Russia’s military capabilities in Ukraine. This strong belief continues to this day.
“Despite the failure of Russian troops to capture Kiev and their struggle to advance along the main front lines of the war in the southeastern Donbas region, the Russian leader has not changed his view that his troops can defeat Ukraine,” Burns continued.
“I think he’s in a frame of mind where he doesn’t believe he can lose,” Burns said.
Putin Not Affected by the Ukrainian Resistance
Putin is known to have directed Russian troops to carry out the invasion of Ukraine since last February. Since then, all ground and air forces have been deployed to control Ukraine.
Attack after attack does not frighten Ukraine. Ukrainian troops took part in defending their country by holding resistance in various regions throughout Ukraine.
“Putin was not deterred by resistance in the war because he risked so many choices he made to launch this invasion,” Burns said.
“I think he’s convinced now that doubling the war will still allow him to make progress,” Burns said.
