Although the pandemic has once again caused the cancellation of the most massive acts of Holy Week in Marbella, such as the processions, its positive evolution has allowed the resumption of a classic of Lent in the capital of the western Costa del Sol: the celebration of the charity concert that every year it organizes the Association of Friends of the organ of the Greater Sun, with the sponsorship of Fundación Fuerte.

On this occasion, the event will be held on Thursday, March 25, at 8:00 p.m., in the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, and will feature the participation of the organist Antonio del Pino and the singers Pepe Lara and Juan Gómez, who will fuse their best saeta cante with a beautiful selection of organ music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Girolamo Frescobaldi and Enrico Pasino, among other composers.
The concert “Saeteando lo Clásico, organ music and saeta cante”, which will be presented by the journalist Salvador de la Peña, is also part of the program of commemorative events for the 50th anniversary of the commission to build the Organ of the Sun Major. from Marbella by then parish priest Rodrigo Bocanegra, at the request of Michael Reckling, to Gabriel Blancafort.
The proceeds obtained from the voluntary donations of the members and music fans who attend the recital, will be used to maintain the Organ of the Greater Sun of Marbella, built for paraliturgical purposes, and to spread classical music among the tourists and residents of Marbella. Inaugurated in 1975, after multiple delays, the organ, which was conceived as one of the best in Spain, with 5,000 tin, copper and wood pipes, has never been completed, and 856 pipes are missing for completion. The Association of Friends of the Sol Mayor Organ of Marbella, whose president is Isabel María García Bardón, head of Fundación Fuerte, organizes charity events every year with the aim of finishing it one day.
