The Church of San Franciscofrom Antequera, will host on Saturday, November 2, at 7:30 in the afternoon, the CORAL MEETING “City of Antequera”, with the participation, as host choir, of the Coral City of Antequera and as a guest, the Isla Cristina Polyphonic Choirwith free entry, until capacity is reached. In this way, our city joins the network of cities throughout the country that, increasingly, organize and promote Choral Meetings or Festivals, as they are acts of cultural dissemination and exchange.
Organized by the Coral City of Antequera and with the collaboration of Cultural Area of the Excmo. City halltherefore, an event is presented that is “more than a concert”, since our city can doubly enjoy the performance of two choral associations of a very worthy level that will perform the best of their repertoires, so from this medium it makes a calling on their followers and all the public who wish to join them in this important event.
The work carried out by our Coral City of Antequerafor a long time, with participation in recent years, altruistically, in Festivals and Meetings in very diverse locations, as well as exchanges and collaborations with many Choirs, for example and among others, those of Lucena, Priego de Córdoba, Alcalá la Real, Benalmádena, Swansea (Wales), also from our capital, such as the UMA Choir, Orfeón Universitario de Málaga, Coral Nta. Sra, de la Paz, etc., promote the viability of these “meetings” also being held in Antequera, as a return for the contributions and previous visits made.
The participation of our Choir, in October of last year, in the XXXVI edition of the Atlantic Coral Festival of Isla Cristinathe success and favorable reception received at the joint concert held with the Isla Cristina Polyphonic Choirhas now allowed this choir to visit us, also altruistically.
Backed by its 39 years since its creation, the Isla Cristina Polyphonic Choiris one of the most important and representative cultural entities in Spain, due to its history and extensive curriculum. This Choir has performed before Pope John Paul II, and has offered concerts in many countries in South America and Europe. He has also participated in most of the Spanish provinces, in such emblematic places as the Roman Theater of Mérida, the Olympic Stadium of Barcelona, the Palau de la Música of Valencia, the Maestranza Theater or the Reales Alcázares of Seville, in addition to musically accompanying to important groups and singers, such as Monserrat Caballé at the opening ceremony of the Barcelona 92 Paralympic Games. On the other hand, the curriculum and trajectory that also supports our Choir, which this year has turned 34, is also well known. since its foundation, previously as Coral San Sebastian and a year ago with its new name.
From both choirs, similar in terms of their number of members, around 40, this meeting is being prepared with great enthusiasm, putting all the work and effort so that it is liked by the attending public, with freely chosen repertoire, representative of each one of them.
