A member of the Task Force Brimob Peaceful Cartenz shoots soldiers TNI from Kodim 1715/Yahukimo at the City Police on Jalan Settlement, Line 1 Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua. The shooting incident started from a misunderstanding at a food stall.
“At the beginning of this incident, temporary information was that during the day there was 1 soldier, he had a misunderstanding with the residents in the food stall, then the resident reported to the police post. Friends from the police came to intervene,” said the Commander of Korem 172/PWY Brigadier General TNI JO Sembiring in a video interview received by detik.com, Friday (29/7/2022).
Sembiring said TNI soldiers were injured at the time and were immediately taken to the hospital. According to him, there have been efforts to resolve the commotion at the stall.

“Indeed, the family of this member insisted on this soldier to solve the problem immediately, including the shop. Only this soldier happened to have malaria yesterday, he was shivering, but he can’t be questioned,” he said.
Local village officials have defused the situation in the afternoon. However, in the evening, fellow soldiers who were noisy at the food stall approached the police before an altercation and shooting ensued.
“Essentially, that afternoon the village apparatus had calmed down, but in the evening it was suspected that this was still from his family and his friends came back to visit friends from the police. There was an argument and then a friend of the police shot him,” he added.

The Head of Public Relations of the Papuan Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, revealed that the misunderstanding between TNI and Polri personnel occurred on Wednesday (27/7) at 13.30 WIT. At that time, the Dekai Police received reports from the public regarding a commotion in a shop not far from the Dekai Police Station and residential areas.
“Receiving the report, the Dekai Police personnel went straight to the TKP, when they arrived at the TKP, they found a commotion between the customer (unscrupulous member of the TNI) and Pratu UA and the owner and waiter so that the personnel tried to deal with the problem,” said Kamal in his written statement.
Kamal said when handling the problem there was a misunderstanding between TNI soldiers and members of the Police which led to a commotion. “Personnel of the Dekai Police then brought the waiter, owner and unscrupulous members of the TNI to be taken to the Dekai Police for inspection,” he said.
