FC Annecy and Sébastien Faraglia, former professional player of the club and now president of the new SAS, held a press conference on Monday. Many subjects have been raised including the choice of the fallback stadium, which is finally known, while the club will not be able to play in its Sports Park before minimum October. Faraglia first spoke of the changes that Annecy experienced this summer and confided “Our accession to National 1 has indeed led us to create a Simplified Joint Stock Company (SAS). It is an essential evolution of our structure. to perpetuate our project and strive for professionalism. We have been discussing and preparing this project for 2 seasons, since we have shown our ambitions to access the NATIONAL championship. ”
Regarding the operation of this SAS, he explained “Two seasons ago, when we presented our Twenties project to the 1927 Club, we asked all of our” top sponsors “on the prospects of this SAS. All of them. these business leaders, very attached to the local economic fabric and to the values of the club, responded favorably to the idea of being founding members of this SAS. Two management bodies have been identified today: the first, a Strategic Committee led by the Chairman of the SAS and 3 members representing the shareholders. The second, a Sports Committee entrusted to Jean-Philippe Nallet with as members, the two Chairmen of the SAS and of the Association. From an operational point of view, a committee liaison has been set up with the Association (its office and its general coordinator) in order to have a global vision of the project. “
The Grangettes de Rumilly stadium as a fallback solution
Faraglia then spoke about the closure of the Sports Park and how the club had experienced it. He thus confided “The closure of the Sports Park has put the club in a very delicate situation, and this within 11 days of the 1st day of National 1 and during the return to the fields of all our teams of young people. The stakes, financial and sporting, are colossal. Without any prospect of withdrawal proposed, we have since stopped all communication with all local, regional and national media. After the management of Covid19 and its financial impact on our budgets, it’s the coup de grace. ”
And as he confides, the closure of the Parc des Sport could be financially disastrous. He said “The financial loss for the club could be considerable without a rapid return to the Sports Park. This is an additional problem after that linked to the Covid 19 crisis. A complete and precise note was sent to the Mayor of ‘Annecy, and its Sports Assistant, on the sporting and economic consequences of this situation if no viable solution is implemented quickly. “
But the former club player then announced the choice of the fallback stadium which will be that of Grangettes where Rumilly-Vallières, a resident of National 2, plays. He therefore declared “We inform our loyal supporters that it is at the Grangettes stadium de Rumilly that we will play our first two matches of National 1. The French Football Federation authorized us this Monday, August 17, as an exception and derogatory, to fall back on a field classified 4 and not 3 as stipulated in the regulations. On this subject, we would like to thank the responsiveness of the managers of the GFA Rumilly-Vallières club and their warm welcome as well as the elected officials of Rumilly and Annecy for their agreement. The technical services of the City of Annecy are now looking to set up bleachers in order to ” increase the capacity of the venue from 600 to 1,100 seats in tiers for the reception of FC Villefranche Beaujolais. With crowds exceeding 2,000 spectators last season, it is certain that we are going to create some disappointment in our first two games. ” But from the 3rd home game, the club will have to find a new solution and that is why the club is calling for the help of its elected officials. Still a problematic situation for FC Annecy, which will start its championship on Friday evening.
